Ole Miss men lead at SEC Championship

SEA ISLAND, Ga. – Cameron Tankersley and Cohen Trolio both delivered opening round 6-under 64 performances as the No. 12 Ole Miss men’s golf team leads after round one at the SEC Championship. The Rebels posted (265, -15) with four players finishing under-par on the day.

The team began opening round action on the back nine and wasted little time getting things rolling.

Tankersley would birdie four of his first six holes, making the turn at 4-under. He would get to 6-under through 12 and added his seventh circle to the card at the par-5 seventh. After dropping a shot at the par-4 eighth, Tankersley would bounce back with a closing par to cap off the round of 64. The performance was a team best 10th round in the 60s this season and his 15th under-par round on the year.

Cohen Trolio’s 6-under day marked his 14th round in red figures and seventh in the 60s. Trolio made the turn at 2-under and caught fire with the flatstick over the final nine. He would close with bogey-free 4-under to shoot 31 coming in.

Tankersley and Trolio are tied for second heading into round two.

Tom Fischer carded his seventh straight under-par round on Monday, shooting 2-under 68. After an over-par start, Fischer calmy strung together three consecutive birdies to finish in red numbers. The Birmingham, Alabama native now has 23 rounds of even/below par, 20 rounds in red figures and 10 rounds in the 60s this season, all team bests.

Daniel Tolf shot 1-under 69 in his championship debut and Collins Trolio finished at 3-over 73.

Ole Miss led the field in par-3 scoring and birdies on the day.

The Rebels will begin second round action Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. CT.
