Miller leads at SEC Championship

BELLEAIR, Fla. – Mary Miller carded her second straight round of 4-under 66 and is the solo leader at the SEC Championship with one round of stroke play remaining. The No. 21 Ole Miss women’s golf team posted (279, -1) in round two and are 4-under for the tournament, tied for fifth.

The Savannah, Georgia native sits alone at 8-under par with a two shot cushion over Texas A&M’s Vanessa Borovilos and Mississippi State’s Avery Weed.

Miller’s two-day (132, -8) is the lowest two-day total in SEC Championship history.

Miller began her day on hole 10 and made the turn at even par. She would get the putter going with three straight birdies to start her second nine. Miller stepped on the gas as she added two more circles to the card making it five birdies through seven holes coming down the stretch.

After dropping a shot at the par-4 eighth, she bounced back with a closing par to cap off the round of 66. The sophomore looks to become the second Rebel in as many years to take home the SEC individual title.

Caitlyn Macnab became the first player in program history a season ago to ever be crowned individual SEC champion.

Sophie Linder was solid on Saturday shooting 2-under 68 to reach 1-under-par for the championship.

Matilda Björkman, Filippa Sundquist and Kajsalotta Svarvar all grinded out over-par scores in round two.

The top eight teams at the conclusion of stroke play will move forward into the match play bracket. The final round of stroke play will begin Sunday morning at 7:10 a.m. CT.
