Madi George sets frosh HR record in Rebels midweek victory over UNA

Freshman right fielder Madi George had herself a night Tuesday in the Ole Miss Rebels’ 7-3 win over North Alabama.

All George did was go 2-for-5 with two home runs, driving in five of the Rebels’ runs in the victory. In so doing she broke a 19-year-old single season, freshman home run record held by Lauren Grill. George now stands just two home runs away from tying former Rebel Lexie Brady’s 17-homer mark for the most ever in a season by any Rebel.

Ole Miss improved to 27-18, while North Alabama dipped to 28-12.

Not be overshadowed by George’s historic performance, starting pitcher Kyra Aycock bounced back from two rough weekend starts versus Texas A&M on Tuesday. Aycock worked into the seventh before fatigue set in. She allowed three runs on six scattered hits, walking two and striking out two.
