Little Rock speedster on Ole Miss campus today in hopes of offer

Chase Hancock will on the Ole Miss campus today.

Little Rock standout Chase Hancock will arrive on the Ole Miss campus at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday to begin what will be his third unofficial visit to Oxford. Hancock is a super-fast slot receiver out of Pulaski Academy in Arkansas’ capitol city.

The 5–9, 160-pounder out of the Class of 2028 is hoping an Ole Miss offer is coming his way. He already owns SEC offers from instate Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma, as well as from Appalachian State and Florida International.

On the potential of Ole Miss offering, Hancock is a realist.

“If it doesn’t happen today, hey, it’s OK,” he said on his hopes for an offer from the Rebels, adding he hopes he leaves with offer in hand.

We asked Hancock, who is not yet rated by the major recruiting services, to describe his game. What makes him so special on a Friday night?

“You are going to get separation at the top of the route,” said Hancock. “You’re going to get a burst of speed at the end. There are a lot of people who think I can get the ball and make a move and go score. That’s what I produce on Friday nights.”

Hancock has been clocked at a 4.50 in the 40-yard dash.

Hancock will be accompanied on today’s visit by his mother, father and younger sister.

BLOODLINES

There is a connection between Hancock and Ole Miss. His uncle is former Ole Miss football standout Cassius Vaughn. After his playing career at Ole Miss, Vaughn signed a free-agent contact with the NFL’s Denver Broncos. He also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens and San Diego Chargers during a lengthy NFL career. After the NFL, Vaughn spent a combined three seasons in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts.

“He wouldn’t mind me going there,” said Hancock, “but he said at the end of the day it’s my decision. he tells me to do what’s right for my family and do what is right for me. Keep praying on it, so that’s what I’m doing now.”

IS HE A HOG FAN?

We can’t help but notice the instate Razorbacks have already offered Hancock. In years past, it was proven difficult to pull the top players in that state out from under the fandom of the Hogs.

Did Hancock grow up pulling for Arkansas?

He hesitates before answering.

“I have pictures of me going to Hogs’ games, but like I wouldn’t say I was a Hogs fan.”
