Run to the stores and buy the “Beast,” as we used to call it. That’s slang for Ole Milwaukee or Milwaukee’s Best beer. That’s because everyone in Rebel Nation ought to be pulling for the late Jeff Dahmer’s hometown school today in the NCAA Tournament.
Milwaukee plays Auburn today for the Auburn Region title at 5 p.m. Oxford time. If Milwaukee wins, a Super Regional will be held at Swayze Field in Oxford and we can guarantee you beer showers feel much better in early June than they do at the end of February.
Milwaukee and Auburn each own one loss in Regional play. Yes, they’ve given each loss to one another. Tonight they play what has become a decisive game three of an unexpected and impromptu series. If Auburn wins, that’s where the Rebels go for the Super Regionals.
But if Milwaukee wins…
Fire up the grills.
Open up the hotels and Air-B-N-Bs for Laverne and Shirley.
Prepare yourself to see cheese heads in Oxford.
And prepare yourself for more home baseball in a Super Regional in which the Rebels would be heavy favorites.
And what would be on the line? Our first trip to Omaha and the College World Series since winning it all in 2022.
Auburn beat Milwaukee 8-1 Sunday night to force today’s winner-take-all game. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. CT and the contest will be televised on ESPN. The region’s No. 4 seed Milwaukee defeated top-seeded Auburn 13-8 earlier in the tournament to force this scenario.
