How To Watch | Ole Miss faces Troy in a loser-go-home bout today at Omaha

The Ole Miss Rebels will play the Cinderella team at the College World Series on Sunday versus the Troy Trojans in a loser-go-home game.

And for the first time in program history, Troy is competing in the Division I College World Series.

Ole Miss (41-22) is expected to throw veteran postseason star Hunter Elliott on Sunday. Elliott, who as a freshman started the Rebels’ title-clinching game against Oklahoma and pitched a strong 6 2/3 innings. Elliott missed most of the 2023 season and all of 2024 with an elbow injury. He’s been the No. 1 starter for all but one series this season.

Troy (38-31), however, owns a rich baseball history. The Trojans reached the CWS as a Division II member seven times and won the whole thing in 1986.

“Yeah, the crowd loves the Cinderella story, but us in the locker room and as a staff, we don’t really love that term,” said Troy star Jabe Boroff, who has hit six of his 11 home runs in the last five games. “We don’t really consider ourselves that. We know what type of firepower and talent we have in this locker room. It’s almost like a sour taste to hear Cinderella story.”

Troy owns a respectable record versus the SEC this season. The Trojans went 4-4 against SEC teams with all but one of those games on the road. They have wins over fellow CWS teams Georgia and Alabama, and they outscored host Florida 26-13 over two games in regionals.

The Trojans punched their ticket to Omaha this year after sweeping Little Rock in the Troy Super Regional in front of 13,459 fans across two days. Troy topped Little Rock 12-2 in game one before a 7-2 win in Saturday’s clincher behind 7.1 spectacular innings from Tommy Egan.

Troy is the third Sun Belt team to reach the College World Series, joining 2000 Louisiana and 2025 Coastal Carolina. The Trojans are the first 30-loss team to reach the College World Series.
