Hartrup defines ‘brotherhood’ on roster full of new faces in Ole Miss WRs room

There are 15 wide receivers on the Ole Miss roster this spring. It s a position room that basically has to be rebuilt after after the losses of star players such as Trey Wallace and D’zhaun Stribling who are bound for the NFL.

Spring is when the rebuild begins. Veteran wide receiver Izaiah Hartrup took them podium after the Rebels’ Thursday practice and he was peppered with questions about the new guys in the room and how relationships are developing within.

“The coaches did a good job of bringing in guys who love to compete and are good at what they do,” related Hartrup. “Having good guys just brings good competition to the room and just elevates our game.”

Hartrup is a senior, who has the experience of being a transfer in his toolbox. He transferred to Ole Miss from Southern Illinois prior to the 2024 season. He missed the 2024 season with injury and played sparingly in 2025. He was granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA to be able to compete this season.

“I missed a couple of years with injuries. At my previous school I had an injury that I missed the whole year, and then my first year after transferred here I basically had another injury and missed the whole year. The NCAA thought it was good enough to be able to get another year…We fought for it. It really didn’t take that much because it was self-explanatory,” he said.

THE DEFINITION OF BROTHERHOOD

The Rebels often use the word “brotherhood” to describe relationships with teammates. OleMiss365.com asked Hartrup to give a definition of the word and describe what it means within the team.

“I would just say just doing for each other no matter what,” Hartrup said. “You see us out there, if one goes, we all go. We’ve got a lot of love for each other, and not just for the receivers room, but as a team,” said Hartrup.

“I think we’re breeding a good, competitive team that loves to win, and I think we are going to go to war for each other.”
