Dabo’s whiney press conference did only one thing. It trumpeted his shortcomings as a Portal practitioner. A savvy coach who knows how to play the Portal game would never have put himself and his school in the embarrassing situation Dabo did with Ferrell.

We had a whole house generator installed two years ago. The wife and I are getting too old to “pioneer” through an ice storm like we did in 1994.

We seem flat tonight at home after playing with more energy in the past two road games. Inconsistency is the hallmark of this team.

We now have a better overall record and better SEC record than MSU. In fact, we have a 3-2 winning record in the SEC. I think a lot of MSU fans believed they would run us out of the gym. It did look that way at first, but to the team’s credit, they fought back and took home the W.

People over there are reacting like Neal burned down the Lyceum. He made a comment in the heat of a moment that he admits he should not have made and wishes he could have back (all stated in his apology). Some posters are acting like the bloodthirsty crowds in the Roman Coliseum or the judges at the Salem witchcraft trials. Bottom line: Neal should not have made the comment, and posters should put down the torches and pitchforks.

Oh, there’s a lot of outrage over there now, but it will dissipate soon, and things will settle down and get back to normal.

This team is an embarrassment. No way to spin it or sugar coat it.

I applaud David for setting up this board and running it as a civil board. Some boards have let personal attacks and name-calling outweigh content and information.

Surveys repeatedly showed that a majority of listeners did not approve of “Shock Jock” Howard Stern’s antics and content, but they watched him anyway. The reason: They wanted to see what he said next. I think that’s why some posters stay on such message boards. They want to see what certain obnoxious posters say next.

Kiffin had better hit the ground winning games, or the Corn Dogs will sour on him quickly. It’s certainly ironic that a coach who left Ole Miss because he said he could at a higher level at LSU then tried so hard to poach Ole Miss players.

The closing of the Portal reminds me of that old Porter Waggoner song: “I’ve Enjoyed As Much Of This As I Can Stand.”

I don’t understand all the axes being swung at Pete. He came into a difficult situation created by Lane Kiffin. He rallied the team around him and won two games in the CFP. With Lane bent on revenge against Ole Miss and having no scruples whatsoever, we knew this was going to be a rocky Portal experience. Pete and the staff have done a good job of stockpiling defensive players (which we needed) and picked up some solid offensive players. With Kiffin’s desperation, desire to harm Ole Miss and lots of money to throw around, he was inevitably going to take some of our players. However, it looks like Pete and his he staff have brought in enough new talent to counter most of our losses.

College athletes are now hired gun mercenaries for sale to the highest bidder. They are going to exploit every NIL, Revenue Sharing, and Portal loophole any way they can. There are agents, family members and “personal advisers” who all want a piece of the pie. As my late non-cursing Mother used to say to say: “This is one mell of a hess.”
