about basketball recruiting. I don’t follow it closely, but some who claim to do so express concern that we aren’t getting top quality players to fill needs. There are some suggestions that our inability to pay these players what they desire contributes to the underlying problem. Does anyone here have any information on the real story of this.

Some of the concern may be coming from the same crowd who during football season posts (on another site) that we will lose whenever the other team gets a first down, who in basketball (they were mostly right this year) that we will lose everytime the other team makes a 3 pointer and in baseball say we are about to lose everytime the other team gets a hit.
The portal is designed for instant success. We did not see that last year. The run through the SEC Tourney is what we thought we would see all season long. For some reason, we did not. Money is not the issue, I assure you.
Money is not the issue. It’s hard building a new team through the portal every year. One miss evaluation and it’s not going to go well. Beard is a top 5 coach in the country and his record speaks for itself. He will fix this. But he deserves criticism for how this last year went for sure. Hotty Toddy
