Mike Bianco’s day in the sun at Ole Miss has come and gone. Notwithstanding the 2022 Natty—-in which the player-leaders (such as Elko)—-took the games out of Bianco’s hands, Mike has the underperformed in too many seasons. He can never seem to evaluate and sign enough productive talent, and his coaching strategy remains that of Skip Bergman from decades ago. His hiring of some incapable assistants and keeping them long term is inexplicable. This is not going to change no matter how much longer Mike stays at Ole Miss. Unfortunately, our Administration and a number of our fans seem content with the status quo of “Bianco Ball.” Therefore, it does not appear that anything is going to change soon.

I’m not sure, but I hope Mike leaves under great circumstances and is celebrated for his accomplishments in Oxford. I do not know if that’s going to happen, though.

Mike is not going to leave of his own accord any time soon, and the Administration is not going to force him out. Our baseball program will therefore remain “stuck in molasses” for who knows how long.
