Who is Luke Moga?

Position: Quarterback (Dual-Threat)

Hometown: Phoenix, Arizona

Previous School: University of Oregon (Ducks)

Class: Freshman/Redshirt (eligible to transfer)

Size: 6’2, 204 lbs, prototypical athletic QB size for college play

Recruiting & Background

  • Moga was a highly regarded high-school recruit, ranked as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks nationally by Rivals and ESPN, and the No. 4 dual-threat QB in the country in his class.
  • He played at Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, where he excelled both passing and running, showing the kind of versatility coaches covet from modern QBs.
  • Oregon was one of many Power 5 schools pursuing him, so his talent level was recognized widely coming out of high school.

College Production So Far

  • Limited game action at Oregon: Appeared sparingly over the 2025 season, completing 3 of 5 passes for 58 yards and running for about 49 yards in limited snaps.
  • His playing time was mostly in mop-up duty late in games.

Transfer Portal Status

  • Moga entered the transfer portal after the 2025 season, joining the group of Ducks QBs looking for a new opportunity elsewhere.
  • Pete Golding started following him on social media, which suggests Ole Miss is likely to add another QB to compete with Duece Knight if Trinidad doesn’t pursue an appeal or doesn’t win his appeal. (Following doesn’t mean a deal is done, but it signals interest.)

What Kind of Player He Is

📍 Dual-Threat Ability: Moga can hurt defenses with his legs as well as his arm. He’s got the athleticism to extend plays and pick up yards outside the pocket.

📍 Strong Arm and Downfield Confidence, As a recruit, he showed gutsy throws downfield and the ability to make plays under stress.

📍 High Ceiling but Low College Volume, He’s talented but has very limited college playing time so far. The challenge for Ole Miss would be turning his potential into consistent production.

Why Ole Miss Might Like Him

  • SEC Fit: A dual-threat QB can be a weapon in today’s SEC offenses.
  • Development Opportunity: As someone who didn’t start much at Oregon, he could develop into a more significant role with the right coaching.
  • Depth/Competition: Even if not an immediate starter, he could provide depth or even be a future starter if he flashes in practice.

Bottom Line for Rebels Fans:

Luke Moga is a versatile, intriguing transfer QB with high-level recruiting pedigree and some real athletic traits. His college tape is limited, but his combination of passing and rushing ability could make him an upside piece for Ole Miss—especially in a system that likes mobile quarterbacks and competition at the position.
