Trinidad Chambliss impressed with Miami defensive front seven

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is still waiting to find out if he can line up under center again next season for the Ole Miss Rebels. Chambliss applied for eligibility for a fifth and final college season several ago, and as usual, the NCAA is taking its sweet time in answering.

Chambliss was asked about his application for another season of eligibility following the Rebels’ inside the Manning Center on Sunday.

“No, I have not yet,” he responded when asked if he knew anything yet on his appeal.

Chambliss, though, has more near-important things on his mind right now. The Rebels play Miami on Thursday night in a national semifinal game from the Fiesta Bowl. Chambliss has been spectacular through the Rebels’ first two playoff wins.

“It’s really crazy to think about,” related Chambliss of his Ole Miss team being just a win away from playing for a national title. “

Of course, he has been in this same place before. Prior to hitting the transfer portal after the 2024 season, he led D2 Ferris State to a national title.

“I was in the same position last year, only we were playing Harding. It was a different school, different team, different year and a different division…I don’t think it’s not hit me. It’s kind of like live in the moment and just enjoy every moment with that.”

Chambliss offered his general impression on what is an impressive Miami defensive front.

“They got dudes,” he said. “Their front seven…their defensive line…they got dudes up front. They do a lot of stunts and they just bring pressure. They’re just very physical, high-motor defense.”
