As the 2026 season draws closer, the excitement surrounding Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss continues to grow. Already viewed as one of the top quarterbacks in college football, Chambliss recently received high praise from one of the biggest names in Rebels history—Archie Manning.
Speaking during the Manning Passing Academy, Manning didn’t hesitate when asked about Ole Miss’ star quarterback.
“I’m really proud of him, and I’m proud that he’s an Ole Miss quarterback,” Manning said.
Coming from one of the greatest players to ever wear the Rebel uniform, those words carry plenty of meaning. Manning said he’s enjoyed getting to know Chambliss and praised not only his talent but also the type of person he is off the field.
Chambliss heads into the 2026 season with Heisman Trophy expectations after leading Ole Miss to the College Football Playoff semifinals a year ago. His leadership, confidence, and ability to make plays have the Rebels believing they can once again compete among the nation’s elite under head coach Pete Golding.
The senior quarterback is also closing in on another milestone. Chambliss enters the season with 3,937 career passing yards, putting him within reach of passing Manning’s career total of 4,753 yards and climbing even higher in the Ole Miss record book.
When a program legend like Archie Manning publicly backs the quarterback leading the Rebels, it says a lot. For Ole Miss fans, it’s another reminder that Chambliss has all the tools to deliver another special season in Oxford.
