Ole Miss has built plenty of momentum on the recruiting trail, but there’s still a lot of work left before Signing Day.
The Rebels already have a strong foundation for their class, but if Pete Golding and his staff want to finish among the SEC’s elite, these are the three recruiting battles that could make the biggest difference over the next few months.
Lock Down the Safety Position
If there’s one spot to keep an eye on, it’s safety.
Ole Miss has made it clear this position is still a priority, and the Rebels are pushing to add another playmaker to the back end of the defense. In today’s SEC, you can never have too many defensive backs who can cover, tackle, and make plays on the football.
Landing one more impact safety would give Ole Miss another big piece heading into the future.
Keep the Class Together
Getting commitments is one thing. Keeping them is another.
The phone calls aren’t stopping just because a recruit committed to Ole Miss. Programs across the SEC—and around the country—will keep recruiting these players until they sign.
The Rebels have to win those battles every single week. Coaches will be making in-home visits, schools will keep pitching playing time and NIL opportunities, and there will almost certainly be a few flip attempts before December.
If Ole Miss hangs on to its current class, that could be just as important as landing another big-name prospect.
Add One More Big-Time Lineman
Every great recruiting class needs difference-makers up front.
Whether it’s an offensive tackle who can protect the quarterback or a disruptive defensive lineman, Ole Miss would love to finish with another impact player in the trenches.
The Rebels have done a good job selling early playing time, player development, and sending linemen to the next level. If they can win one more battle up front, it’ll give this class even more punch.
Ole Miss is in a good spot, but the toughest part of recruiting is usually the finish.
The next few months will be about protecting commitments, winning a couple of head-to-head battles, and closing strong. If Golding and his staff can check those boxes, the Rebels will have another class capable of making an impact as soon as those players arrive in Oxford.
