BATON ROUGE, La. – Ole Miss track & field wrapped up a busy weekend with a string of impressive performances on the final day of LSU’s Battle on the Bayou on Saturday.
Four-time NCAA shot put champion Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan extended his lead atop the collegiate lists for the 2026 outdoor season following his victory today. After fouling his first two attempts, Robinson-O’Hagan made the final and took the lead by more than two meters at 20.36m/66-09.75 before launching an outdoor season-best 20.81m/68-03.25. In addition to extending his collegiate lead, that toss also ranks him fourth worldwide on the 2026 outdoor lists.
All-American junior Akaoma Odeluga came away with the win in the women’s shot at 16.65m/54-07.50. Elsewhere in the field, junior Sterling Scott made his Ole Miss outdoor debut with a runner-up finish in the triple jump at 15.90m/52-2 (+2.5) – good for No. 10 on the all-time lists at Ole Miss outdoors (which accepts up to the NCAA qualifying allowable 4.0 meters per second wind reading).
Ole Miss had an excellent day on the track in Baton Rouge on Saturday, highlighted by several fast times turned in by the Rebel sprints crew.
One week after clocking the first sub-39 ever at Ole Miss in the 4×100-meter relay, a different Rebel foursome of Dekell Minor, Jordan Urrutia, Tarique Wright and Joshua Knox blazed to the third-best performance in school history, finishing fourth at 39.18. The women’s relay of Royanah Farmer, Patchnalie Compere, Zion Lockette and Myla Reed ran a season-best 44.54 in eighth place.
Knox and Urrutia then turned in the fastest 400-meter races seen at Ole Miss since the turn of the millennium. Knox finished 10th overall at a massive new PR 46.14 (No. 7 all-time) while Urrutia had an equally impressive PR 46.22 in 11th place (No. 8 all-time) – both of which rank as the fastest quarter-miles run by Rebels since 1999.
Minor and Compere had eye-opening (if slightly windy) performances in their respective 100-meter dashes as well. Minor finished fifth at an all-conditions PR 10.14 (+2.2) that ranks sixth all-time at Ole Miss, while Compere finished eighth in the women’s edition at 11.35 (+3.6) for her collegiate 100-meter debut – also good for No. 6 on the all-time list.
Sophomore Max Armstrong broke 1:47 for the first time in his career, clocking an overall PR 1:46.98 to finish third in the men’s 800-meter that moves him to No. 9 on the all-time list outdoors at Ole Miss. Senior Carson Turner crossed the line in seventh place at a season-best 1:47.75.
Ole Miss now returns home to host the 2026 Joe Walker Invite, scheduled for April 10-11 at Prefontaine Stadium.
