Saturday night is perfect for a fight

This one looks like it’s going to be a doozy. Georgia at Ole Miss, with conference and national playoff implications will play out live on an ABC national, primetime broadcast Saturday night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The game is a hard sellout.

Ole Miss and Georgia both simply must win.

But which team will?

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has never won in Oxford. He is 0-2 versus the Rebels in Oxford.

History…mystery.

Vaught-Hemingway has been a genuine house of pain for Smart, and that history is the reason this is a three-point game rather than seven. But history doesn’t tackle. Talent and health do, and Georgia has both.

At 6-2 and No. 10 in the first CFP rankings, the Rebels almost certainly need to win out to feel safe for the playoff. Georgia has more margin. Desperation is a real variable in a what is predicted to be a close game.

Sure, there are some people saying that Ole Miss can squeeze into the College Football Playoffs with three losses. It would be a bubble chance at best, and no one wants to find out.

The Rebels know how important this game is to their CFP chances. It’s important to Georgia, too, for playoff seeding. If Ole Miss wins, the rest of its schedule looks more than manageable.

I’m going with the Rebels and the Vaught crowd. Ole Miss has become difficult for any team to beat at home.

OLE MISS 28, GEORGIA 24
