The Rebels had enough from their offense to win on Tuesday night against Arkansas State. Tonight, against Jackson State, they had an offensive surplus and then some. Ole Miss batted around three times in six innings as they dominated the Tigers of Jackson State 18-3 at Swayze Field.
Judd Utermark opened the Rebel scoring, the first of his two homers, with a two run shot in the first; he followed that up with a grand slam in the sixth, which is his second grand slam in as many years against the Tigers. After Tristan Bissetta homered twice in one inning, one could say the Rebel bats were humming.

The Rebels had a mild lapse in the first, giving up two runs on one hit with an error. That error was the ninth of the season by Ole Miss, and their sixth in the last ten innings of play.
They would play clean for the rest of the game with the Tiger’s other run coming through small ball off a pair of singles and a fielder’s choice.
Terry Hayes Jr got the start on the mound for Ole Miss, his first action in a Rebel uniform, and went three innings. He settled in after the first and finished his night giving up just 2 hits and one earned run while striking out 4. Owen Hancock came on in the fourth to relieve Hayes, he went two full innings giving up two hits and one run. Noah Allen and Grayson Gibson each pitched a clean inning for the Rebels to close out the game.
Collin Reuter, who got the start at catcher tonight, went 1-2 with a 2 RBI single to left field. Brayden Randle and Hayden Federico also picked up RBI’s for the Rebels tonight, as did pinch hitters Cannon Goldin and Luke Romine.
Fifteen different Rebels came to the plate tonight and combined for eleven hits and fourteen walks against a Jackson State pitching staff that couldn’t control the zone.
