Rebels to play Tar Heels at CWS

Ole Miss (41-21) handled No. 4 national seed Auburn by sweeping a Super Regional over the weekend. Now the Rebels are tasked with the No. 5 national seed North Carolina Tar Heels (50-12-1) at the College World Series. North Carolina punched its ticket to the CWS on Sunday via a 403 victory over the USC Trojans in the Chapel Hill Regional.

Ole Miss has posted a 5-0 record in NCAA Tournament play this season.

The Rebels and Tar Heels will meet Sat., June 12, in an opening game at the CWS at time yet to be determined. All games will be televised on ESPN.

Ole Miss is in a bracket with No. 16 West Virginia, Troy and North Carolina in Omaha. Other CWS qualifiers include Georgia (def. Mississippi State 2-0). Texas is still battling Oregon (Texas leads series 1-0), Oklahoma is settling things with Kansas (Oklahoma leads series 1-0) and Alabama is trying to take care of St. John’s (Alabama leads series 1-0).

The SEC could end up with five of the eight teams in Omaha.
