The Ole Miss Rebels hit the road for the third consecutive game and ran into a buzzsaw, falling 84-66 to No. 25 Tennessee on Tuesday night at Food City Center. Coming off a hard-fought but heartbreaking loss at Vanderbilt, the Rebels kept things close early, trailing just 26-25 at halftime after a gritty first-half effort that limited Tennessee’s transition game and forced some tough shots.
But the Volunteers exploded in the second half, outscoring Ole Miss 58-41 to pull away decisively to extend Ole Miss’ losing streak to four. Tennessee turned up the defensive intensity and got hot offensively after the break, overwhelming the Rebels with a barrage of points in the paint and from the perimeter.

For Ole Miss, the second half proved tough to navigate as Tennessee’s pressure led to turnovers and missed opportunities. Patton Pinkins led the Rebels with 15 points, showing some fight in transition and from mid-range. The Rebels shot decently overall but couldn’t match Tennessee’s second-half efficiency or physicality down low.
In addition to Pinkins, the Rebels received large contributions from AJ Storr, Ilias Kamardine and Eduardo Klafke. Storr contributed 15 points while playing 23 minutes and also gathered 4 rebounds. Kamardine had 11 points while going 3-6 from three point range, while Klafke pitched in 10 points.
The Ole Miss defense was unable to stop the Vol’s Nate Ament, who poured in 28 points with 26 of those coming after the intermission. He attacked in transition, hit from deep, and finished around the rim with authority. Ja’Kobi Gillespie chipped in 20 points of his own, and the Vols’ balanced attack and relentless pressure wore down the Rebels as the game progressed.
Head coach Chris Beard was ejected in the second half amid the mounting deficit, adding to the frustration of a night where Ole Miss couldn’t find answers against one of the SEC’s top defensive units.
“I think all we ask for is a consistent whistle. If you’re going to call a post defense foul on that end, call a post defense foul on the other end,” said Beard in his postgame press conference. “At some point, you know, you got to fight for your players. That was the objective tonight in that moment.”

The loss drops Ole Miss deeper into the SEC standings at 3-6, with another tough road test looming at Texas.
The Rebels now head to Austin on Saturday for a 1 p.m. CT tip against the Longhorns, looking to snap the skid and regain some footing in conference play.
