Deuce Knight attends an Ole Miss football game during the 2024 season.
Sources tell OleMiss365.com that Oxford is the likely destination for former Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight. The rebels were serious contenders for Knight before he opted for Auburn in the 2025 class.
Knight, a native of Lucedale, Miss., and a product of George County High School, entered the transfer portal on Dec. 30. He was a five-star prospect coming out of high school last year, ranked as the nation’s No. 5 quarterback and the top player in Mississippi by the industry average.
Sources confirm Knight and his family say he wants to end up at Ole Miss. Of course, the transfer portal can be a wicked experience with many factors.
The 6-4.5, 206-pounder was recruited to Auburn by former Ole Miss quarterback Kent Austin.
Auburn fired then head coach Hugh Freeze earlier this season and the Tigers program is in a rebuilding mode. Ole Miss, meanwhile, is one of the final four teams competing for the College Football Playoffs national championship. The Rebels face Miami in the Fiesta Bowl next Thursday in a national semifinal CFP game.
Auburn hired USF head coach Alex Golesh to replace Freeze. USF QB Bryrum Brown is expected to follow Golesh to Auburn.
Knight made one start for Auburn during his true freshman season of 2025, that coming versus Mercer. He backed-up his recruiting persona, throwing for 239 yards and running for another 162 with six combined touchdowns, earning SEC freshman of the week honors. He also played versus Ball State in a mop-up role in his only other action. He was redshirted, meaning he brings four years of eligibility with him wherever he winds up.
