Ole Miss catcher Kennedy Bunker in action versus Tennessee-Martin.
Ole Miss wasted little time in setting the tone Tuesday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader with Tennessee-Martin, as the Rebels plated seven runs in the bottom of the first to defeat the visiting Skyhawks 12-4.
Kyra Aycock started the game in the circle for Ole Miss and allowed just one hit and walk in three innings of work. She did not, however, pitch long enough to get a victory in the circle.
Instead, leading 9-0 after three, Ole Miss’ coaching staff elected to get Hope Jenkins a little work. Jenkins pitched the fourth and fifth innings, as she yielded one earned run on two hits and walk to improve her record to 1-0 on the season. Freshman hurler Graycee Jordan closed the door on the Skyhawks with a rather rough sixth inning. UT-Martin touched Jordan for three earned runs on five hits before finally succumbing.

Ole Miss shortstop Cassie Reasner was the Rebels’ offensive star of the game. Reasner collected three hits in four at-bats, with a double and two RBIs. First baseman Persy Llamas went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a two walks, as UT-Martin wisely pitched around her.
Ole Miss improved to 17-5 and remained unbeaten at home. UT-Martin dropped to 12-8.
The two teams are laying the nightcap of the twin bill now, which started at 5 p.m. CT and can be viewed on the SEC Network+ or the ESPN app.
