Jeremiah Mark has already established himself as one of Mississippi’s top defensive line prospects, but the Picayune standout believes his best football is still ahead. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound defensive lineman enters his senior season with scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Miami, Alcorn State and several other programs, and he’s determined to make this his most dominant year yet.
After spending the offseason focused on refining his technique, Mark says the biggest improvement in his game has been his explosiveness at the snap of the ball.
“My get-off and my striking ability,” Mark said. “I think I fire off the ball faster than anyone else.”
That improved first step, paired with his size, strength and physical style of play, has only added to the excitement surrounding his recruitment. As college coaches continue evaluating the 2027 class, Mark has positioned himself as one of the premier defensive linemen to watch in Mississippi this fall.
Mark has also set ambitious goals for his final high school season. He wants to finish the year with at least 15 sacks while recording more than 120 total tackles, production that would put him among the state’s most disruptive defensive players.
While the individual goals are important, Mark says team success remains the top priority for Picayune.
“My team needs to work as one cohesive unit like we have been doing, and we will be extremely successful like we always are,” he said.
Mark is equally confident one of his teammates is in for a special season. When asked who he expects to break out, he quickly pointed to running back Xavier Dennis.
“Xavier Dennis,” Mark said. “He’s No. 8 in the country among returning high school rushing leaders. He’s even bigger, faster and stronger this year than he was last year.”
As his recruitment continues to gain momentum, Mark hopes college coaches notice more than just his measurables.
“I want college coaches to notice my motor, my physicality and how hard I compete every snap,” Mark said. “I want them to see someone who never gives up on a play and always plays for his team.”
Ole Miss has been involved in Mark’s recruitment early, and with continued interest from major programs across the country, this season represents another opportunity to elevate his stock. If he delivers on the goals he’s set for himself, don’t be surprised to see his offer list continue to grow as signing day draws closer.
For now, Mark’s focus is exactly where he wants it to be—leading Picayune, chasing a championship and proving he’s one of the top defensive linemen in the 2027 recruiting class.
