Ole Miss is getting an early start with a massive young in-state offensive line prospect.
Class of 2031 offensive lineman Julius Michael of Summer Hill Middle School in Clinton, Mississippi, has picked up an offer from the Rebels. At 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, Michael already possesses impressive size before playing his first high school game.
The offer came much earlier than Michael expected.
“It feels unreal,” Michael said. “It’s something I thought would happen later in life, but overall it feels great.”
Michael’s size is obvious, but his ability to move that 325-pound frame appears to be a major part of what has attracted Ole Miss’ attention. For a young offensive lineman with his measurements, quick feet, leverage and body control give college coaches much more to evaluate than size alone.
Michael said those traits — along with his approach to the game — stood out to the Rebels.
“The coaches said they liked the way I moved and my attitude,” Michael said.
Coach Warren Rowan also believes Michael’s combination of physical tools and understanding of the position separates him from many young offensive linemen.
“Julius is a powerful, athletic offensive lineman with excellent technique, footwork and football intelligence,” Rowan said. “His size, quickness, leverage and ability to recognize defenses give him the potential to become an elite and dominant player.”
For Ole Miss, offering Michael this early provides an opportunity to begin building a relationship with an in-state prospect years before the 2031 recruiting cycle takes center stage.
For Michael, though, the offer means much more than having an SEC program attached to his recruitment. It represents an early step toward what he ultimately hopes football can allow him to do for his family.
“This offer means the world to me,” Michael said. “It’s one step closer to being able to retire my parents.”
