Ole Miss has extended an offer to four-star 2028 wide receiver Joseph “Jet” Gibbs of Southeast Alamance High School in Haw River, North Carolina.

Gibbs is committed to South Carolina, but his recruitment continues to grow. Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Tennessee and Notre Dame are among the major programs that have recently joined the chase for the explosive playmaker.

The 6-foot-3, 187-pound receiver reportedly ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash at a South Carolina camp in June. The Gamecocks offered him following that performance, and Gibbs announced his commitment on July 8.

His nickname fits his game. Gibbs can stretch the field vertically, separate from defensive backs and turn a short completion into a touchdown. He has the size to play outside but enough speed and versatility to move into the slot and create mismatches.

Gibbs is rated as a four-star prospect and ranked among the nation’s top 2028 recruits. His combination of size and verified speed has made him one of the fastest-rising receivers in the class.

Ole Miss has entered the recruitment later than South Carolina, but the Rebels are not alone in attempting to change its direction. Gibbs’ offer sheet looks much different than it did when he committed during the summer.

The next step will be getting him to Oxford. If the Rebels can secure a visit, this could become much more than another offer to a committed prospect.
