Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding has rounded out his staff with the addition of tight ends coach Cody Woodiel from the Miami Hurricanes.

Woodiel took over as the tight ends coach at Miami in 2023 and helped guide it to an appearance in the national championship game this season against the Indiana Hoosiers, which the Hurricanes lost 27-21 on Monday night.

Miami reached the national championship by beating Ole Miss (13-2)  in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl 31-27, ending the Rebels’ historic run.

While at Miami, the tight ends room recorded 445 yards through the air.

Woodiel joined the Hurricanes after spending three seasons at Oregon (2017-2020). He spent the 2022 season as an offensive analyst with the Hurricanes, where he helped coach Will Mallory to a career year.

Before joining the Ducks staff as an offensive graduate assistant, Woodiel had spent three seasons as the offensive line coach at Itawamba Community College. Before ICC, he spent two years as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Troy University.

Woodiel is a native of Hernando, Miss, and got his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Troy, where he split time between tackle guard and tight end for two seasons.

Woodiel is replacing former tight ends coach and co-offensive coordinator Joe Cox, who helped Ole Miss to a historic season. This past season, the tight ends room had 66 total receptions for 924 yards and nine touchdowns.
