WASHINGTON D.C. – Ole Miss women’s basketball’s Christeen Iwuala has signed a rookie scale contract with the Washington Mystics, the team announced on Thursday.
She will join former Rebels Shakira Austin and Madison Scott who were previously signed with the Mystics, along with Cotie McMahon who was recently drafted as the eleventh pick in the first round.
Throughout her senior tenure, Iwuala became one of the most dominant forwards in the SEC, averaging a near double-double with 12.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. She recorded almost half of the Ole Miss’ double-doubles this season, becoming the first Rebel to accomplish the feat in 11 games since Scott had the same amount in the 2022-23 season.
During the nonconference season, Iwuala was recognized on the Cherokee Invitational and the Coast 2 Coast Classic All-Tournament Teams. She is only one of three Rebels to shoot over 60 percent from the field in a season, joining Promise Taylor and Eugenia Conner on that elite list. Following her time at Ole Miss, Iwuala was recognized as the Lilly Women’s College All-Star Game MVP after her stellar performance in Phoenix.
