The Swoosh could soon be out in Oxford. The Three Stripes could be coming in.
Ole Miss Athletics and adidas are reportedly close to finalizing an agreement that would make adidas the Rebels’ new apparel partner, replacing Nike.
And the money could be massive.
The potential 10-year deal is estimated to be worth between $200 million and $300 million.
Nothing has officially been announced by Ole Miss or adidas, so those financial numbers remain estimates. But if the deal gets done near that range, it would represent a major business move for Ole Miss Athletics.
The End of the Nike Era?
Ole Miss has been with Nike since 1999.
That relationship could soon be coming to an end.
The Rebels’ current Nike agreement expires in June 2027, and athletic director Keith Carter has previously said Ole Miss planned to explore the apparel market before deciding what came next.
It looks like adidas could be the answer.
The Money Is Big
The reported $200-$300 million price tag immediately gets your attention.
Apparel agreements aren’t simply about cash. They can include uniforms, equipment, merchandise, marketing opportunities and other benefits for the athletic department and its athletes.
Adidas has also been making moves in college athletics, including partnerships with major programs such as Tennessee and Penn State.
Now Ole Miss could be next.
A deal of this size would also provide another indication of how valuable the Ole Miss brand has become in the college athletics marketplace.
What Would Ole Miss Look Like in adidas?
That’s going to be one of the first questions from fans.
Ole Miss has developed one of the more recognizable uniform combinations in college football, especially with the increased use of powder blue in recent years.
A move to adidas would open the door to a completely different look across the athletic department.
And for fans, it would immediately raise another question: What will Ole Miss look like in adidas?
They may not have to wait too long to find out.
The current Nike agreement runs through June 2027, putting Ole Miss in position to potentially make the adidas transition beginning with the 2027-28 athletic year, depending on the final terms of the agreement.
Nothing is official yet.
But Ole Miss and adidas appear to be getting close.
The Swoosh has been part of Ole Miss Athletics since 1999. If everything gets across the finish line, the Three Stripes are next.
