Missouri’s run defense presents Ole Miss with a challenge

Ole Miss will look to build on its season-best rushing performance as it faces Missouri’s tough run defense.

Missouri has held its last two SEC opponents below 50 rushing yards. The Tigers limited Florida to 42 yards and Texas A&M to 29. Through six games, Missouri is allowing 78.3 rushing yards per game at 2.4 yards per carry.

Ole Miss is coming off a season-best 196 rushing yards against Vanderbilt. Now the Rebels face a defense that has consistently kept opponents from finding room on the ground.

The key will be creating positive runs early and staying out of long-yardage situations. Ole Miss’ performance against Vanderbilt showed what the ground game can do; Saturday will show whether the Rebels can carry that production against Missouri.
