Ole Miss men’s tennis is set to take on the No. 7 seed South Carolina Gamecocks in the Second Round of the SEC Tournament on Thursday, following the Rebels’ 4-0 victory against the Tennessee Volunteers on Wednesday.
After a clean sweep for the Rebels (19-8, 6-8 SEC) in their opening round clash with Tennessee, Ole Miss turns its attention to the conference’s No. 7 seed and the nation’s No. 13-ranked team in the South Carolina Gamecocks (15-7, 8-6 SEC).
The match is set for 2 p.m. and will be held at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas. A live scoring link for the match can be found above as well as on the Ole Miss men’s tennis schedule page. There is no live video provided for the matchup.
The Rebels feature players who are nationally ranked, with the first being in singles with No. 81 Stefano D’Agostino and No. 119 Matthieu Chambonniere, followed by Isac Strömberg and Kai Milburn, who are No. 26 in doubles nationally.
Ole Miss faced off against South Carolina earlier this season, which the Rebels won, 5-2, when South Carolina was ranked No. 14 nationally at the time. Despite the loss, the Gamecocks closed out their remaining regular season schedule, going 5-2.
South Carolina also features a talented roster. In singles, it features No. 13 Lucas Da Silva and No. 72 Sean Daryabeigi. Then, in doubles, three ranked pairings, No. 7 Paul Gazeau and Da Silva, then No. 59 Daryabeigi and Max Stenzer, and lastly No. 66 if they’re playing together, Da Silva and Daryabeigi.
If Ole Miss advances, it would face off against in-state rival and No. 2-seeded Mississippi State in the Quarterfinals. The match would take place on Friday, April 17, at 2 p.m.
