Lone Star QB Jakael Whitehead will visit Ole Miss, Oxford for first time this week

Ole Miss is bringing in a relatively unknown quarterback on Wednesday for an unofficial visit. The Rebels will be hosting 2028 QB Jakael Whitehead out North Shore High School in Houston, Texas.

The 6-3, 205-pounder is about to explode on the recruiting scene, but right now he owns just one offer. That offers is from Wisconsin.

Obviously, Whitehead is hoping things turn serious with the Rebels after his first visit ever to Oxford. The Rebels have yet to offer.

“Wisconsin is pretty much it right now,” said Whitehead. “I’ve been talking to Ole Miss, SMU and USC.”

Wednesday’s visit to Ole Miss will only be the second of the spring for Whitehead. He visited SMU earlier and plans to stick his head in at Mississippi State while he’s so close to Starkville.

Ole Miss assistant Patrick Carter has been handling his recruitment.

Whitehead is acutely aware of this Ole Miss program’s history at the quarterback position.

“All they do at Ole Miss is produce,” deadpanned Whitehead. “You’ve got Jaxson Dart, you’ve got Trinidad (Chambliss). Over the past four years they’ve produced NFL talent, so that’s where I want to be.”

Whitehead’s grandmother and brother will accompany him on his midweek trip to Mississippi.
