Kewan Lacy keeps battling — Ole Miss needs him against Texas

Kewan Lacy’s toughness showed again Saturday, but Ole Miss will need him as healthy as possible for its trip to Texas.

Lacy rushed for 122 yards on 16 carries in the Rebels’ 31–3 win over Missouri. He briefly left the game with an issue, received attention at halftime and returned. Coach Pete Golding said the problem was not Lacy’s shoulder, which had sidelined him earlier this season.

“He’s fighting through it week in and week out,” Golding said. Lacy said he wanted to finish the game and stay on the field with his teammates. Golding eventually pulled him late, with Ole Miss comfortably ahead.

Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss praised Lacy’s toughness, saying he has not been fully healthy this season. Makhi Frazier also rushed for more than 100 yards, giving the Rebels another productive option in the backfield.

Ole Miss travels to Austin to face Texas on Saturday, Oct. 24. Lacy’s health will be a key storyline as the Rebels prepare for their next SEC challenge.
