Jordan Husband becomes Rebs’ first 2029 commitment, as likely DB

Ole Miss secured its first pledge in the 2029 recruiting class over the weekend when in-state athlete Jordan Husband of Forrest County Agricultural High School committed to the Rebels.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Athlete from the Brooklyn/Hattiesburg area announced his decision following Ole Miss’s 45-15 Halloween win over Auburn on Oct. 31. Husband, who was on campus for the game, becomes the first member of the Rebels’ 2029 class.

Husband holds offers from Ole Miss (received in February) and Florida State (September). He cited the program’s environment and coaching staff as key factors in his early commitment.

Husband has developed a strong relationship with secondary coach Marcus Woodson.

Head coach Pete Golding signaled the commitment by posting the program’s well-known shark emoji on social media in the hours after the Auburn victory.

Husband is an athlete but has primarily played on defense this season. Through eight games at the Class 4A school, he has recorded 31 tackles and five pass breakups. As a freshman in 2025, he posted 67 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack and four interceptions on defense while contributing 12 receptions for 264 yards and two touchdowns plus 60 rushing yards on offense.

The commitment gives Ole Miss an early start in the 2029 cycle with a versatile in-state prospect still more than two years from enrollment.
