Jared Curtis is probable — Ole Miss must prepare for both QBs

Ole Miss might have a better idea of what to expect from Vanderbilt at quarterback Saturday, but Pete Golding’s defense still has plenty to worry about.

Freshman Jared Curtis is listed as probable after missing Vanderbilt’s loss to Georgia. Curtis has thrown for 746 yards and four touchdowns this season while adding 133 rushing yards and two scores.

Blaze Berlowitz started against Georgia and threw for 190 yards and a touchdown. Both quarterbacks bring something different to Vanderbilt’s offense.

“It’s almost like two different offenses, to be honest with you,” Golding said earlier this week.

Curtis can extend plays with his legs, while Berlowitz gives Vanderbilt another look with its running game and option concepts.

That’s not exactly an easy matchup for an Ole Miss defense that just gave up 302 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground against Florida.

Golding spent the open week working on tackling, assignments and getting his defense back to playing physical football.

Now comes the test.

Ole Miss doesn’t need to guess which quarterback will play. The Rebels just need to be ready when either one steps on the field.
