The Ole Miss women dipped one spot to No. 14 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Rebels slipped a spot after a difficult road loss to Alabama in Tuscaloosa last week.
The Rebels currently own a record of 19-5 overall and a 6-3 in the SEC, which is hands down the toughest women’s hoops league in America. In the latest ESPN bracketology, Ole Miss is forecasted as a No. 4 seed and Oxford and the Pavilion are in line to host an NCAA Regional.
Fourth-seeded Ole Miss is predicted to host West Virginia, Miami (Ohio) and Murray State in the ESPN projections.
Of course, there is a lot of basketball and water to pass under the bridge for the Rebels to find themselves in that position.
Ole Miss begins a stretch of conference games on Thursday that features home dates with Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU and Texas A&M and games at Kentucky, South Carolina and Florida.
In order to host, conventional wisdom suggests that Ole Miss will need to split the games between LSU and South Carolina and win the rest.
