As the Rebels transition through the winding processes of the portal, their fervent recruiting efforts show no signs of slowing down, particularly as the contact period for high school prospects is now in full swing. Ole Miss remains steadfast in its pursuit of some of the nation’s most elite talent, opening up new avenues for recruitment, notably tapping into the rich reservoir of talent that Texas has to offer. Earlier this week, they extended an offer to four-star cornerback Blake Jenkins, a standout player hailing from Katy Tompkins High School. Jenkins has been generating considerable buzz within the SEC, and it’s easy to see why: standing at an impressive 6 feet 1.5 inches and weighing 185 pounds, he ranks as the No. 17 cornerback in the highly competitive 2027 class and is recognized as the No. 24 prospect from the Lone Star State per 247sports.
With a burgeoning offer sheet that currently boasts 16 offers, Jenkins has garnered attention not just from Ole Miss but also from other SEC programs such as Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Texas. In wathching his film he is a player who epitomizes the new generation of cornerbacks—an athlete who is not only big and fast but possesses an innate ability to read the game with remarkable skill. Jenkins’s ball skills are exceptional; he exhibits excellent field awareness coupled with a keen ability to make pivotal plays on the ball. He particularly excels at locating passes downfield, showcasing his unique talent for tracking the trajectory of the ball with precision.
I recently had the opportunity to catch up with Jenkins and discuss his latest SEC offer from Ole Miss, as well as his ongoing recruitment journey.
Jenkins’ talent has certainly caught the attention of several SEC programs, with Ole Miss being the most recent contender to enter the fray. Reflecting on what it means to receive an offer from the Rebels, he stated, “It means alot to me. All the work I’ve put in is starting to pay off. I’m truly blessed for the opportunity and exciting to keep developing as a player.”

Every athlete’s recruitment process comes with its own set of expectations, and Jenkins shared what he is looking for in a future program: “I’m looking for a program I can truly call home one that will help me Develop not just on the field , but also off the field as a young man and as a football player.”
Pete Golding and his staff have been proactive on the recruiting trail. Jenkins highlighted what stands out about Ole Miss during this phase of his recruitment: “What stands out is how confident they are in my abilities and how upfront they’ve been about their vision for building a better program. They are ready to go to work.”
With numerous programs vying for his attention, we asked Jenkins if any particular schools have distinguished themselves lately. He replied, “A lot of schools are showing love right now, and I’m grateful for all of it. At this point, I’m really focused on finding a program that fits me beest on and off the field and where I can grow the most as a players and person.”
Jenkins also shared insights into what he believes is his most underrated skill set: “I take pride in my elite press skills and my ability to move fluidly as a big framer defender.”
As the offseason heats up, many programs will be eager to court him. Currently, he has not scheduled any visits to prospective schools. We look forward to getting out to see Jenkins this off season. For all the latest from the recruiting trail make sure you are locked in here at Ole Miss 365.
