Historic June has Ole Miss owning in-state recruiting

June was a huge month for Ole Miss football recruiting, as the Rebels made it clear they’re keeping Mississippi’s top talent at home. Pete Golding and his staff landed commitments from several of the state’s top prospects, many of whom are ranked among the best players in Mississippi and carry significant impact potential at the college level.

The run started with four-star defensive lineman Mitchell Turner of Louisville, one of the nation’s top defensive line recruits and the state’s No. 1 recruit, known for his size and ability to disrupt the line of scrimmage. Ole Miss followed that by adding four-star offensive lineman Antonio Berry of Tupelo, a highly regarded in-state prospect and one of the top offensive linemen in Mississippi, giving the Rebels another elite commitment in the trenches with the potential to anchor the offensive line early in his career.

The momentum continued when four-star defensive lineman Ben’Jarvius Shumaker of Ackerman recommitted to Ole Miss, strengthening what is already shaping up to be one of the top defensive line classes in the country. Shumaker is widely viewed as one of the state’s premier defensive prospects, bringing versatility and pass-rushing ability that could make an immediate impact.
