Safety Gapena Gushiken showed out Wednesday at Ole Miss Pro Day. The Rebel safety ran a blistering 4.35 40-yard dash in front of a gathering of NFL scouts.
The native of Pukalani, Hawaii, played his senior season at Ole Miss in 2025 after transferring from Washington State in January. He quickly adapted to and learned then defensive coordinator Pete Golding’s scheme and developed into a vital player on the Rebels’ defense.
Gushiken totaled 55 tackles for Ole Miss, whose season didn’t end until the national semifnals of the College Football Playoffs.

Ole Miss safety Kapena Gushiken flies through the air on his broad jump attempt.
In addition to his turf-scorching 40 time, he recorded a 41-inch vertical, and 11-foot broad jump and turned over the 225-pound bench-rep max 17 times.
“I think it was a good day,” Gushiken said of his Pro Day performance. “There were some numbers that I definitely wanted to hit. Outside, looking at it from a big picture, I thought I did pretty well.”
Gushiken knew the importance of his performance in the eyes of NFL scouts.
“Really important, honestly,” he said. “really important. I care a lot about football and this journey I’ve been on. I know how much weight and how much it will help me going forward. I definitely took the process very serious, and I feel like I did decently good.”
“…I took a lot of pride in really just getting one percent better every day. I feel like my journey can speak to that.”
