The football family connection deepens with the latest addition to Pete Golding’s Ole Miss Rebels. On Wednesday afternoon, Trinity Valley Community College safety Gerald Lacy Jr. announced his commitment to join the program. That last name should ring a bell for Rebels fans—Gerald is the older brother of standout Rebel running back Kewan Lacy.
Lacy Jr. began his collegiate journey at Stephen F. Austin University in 2023, where he played in 10 games and recorded six tackles. He later transferred to Columbia to team up with his younger brother in 2024 at Mizzou but did not see any game action with the Tigers. Eventually, he returned to Texas, reigniting his career at Trinity Valley, where he made a significant impact with 34 tackles, two forced fumbles, four pass breakups, and two interceptions.
Now, Lacy Jr. will not only have the opportunity to showcase his talents in the SEC but will also share the field with Kewan, who has been instrumental in propelling the Rebel offense to the CFP semifinals.
During his high school days at Lancaster High School, Lacy Jr. helped lead the Tigers to a commendable 9-3 record and secured a spot in the state playoffs during his senior season. While there may be limited film available and less on-field experience compared to some peers, he possesses raw potential that could greatly benefit Ole Miss’s gritty defensive unit. 2026 could be the year of the Lacey family tradition of excellence on both sides of the ball here for the Rebel! Welcome to the Sip Gerald!
