Neal got into a Twitter fight about OKC Thunder basketball. Saw the other person was an Ole Miss fan and went off on Ole Miss, college football and basically said 1) Ole Miss football has no chance in the future and will never reach semi-finals again. 2) and just because Ole Miss fans pay his living doesn’t mean that he has to like them. Totally unprovoked. Dude has some serious issues with self-pity. Even some of the people who praise him for writing a great article when he basically reports what was said in a press conference are turning on him now.
January 18, 2026 at 7:14 pm #2657::I haven’t read everything, but it seems that someone ticked him off on twitter while he was watching the OKC Thunder lose a close basketball game. In his reaction to the tweet, he made the comment that he was sorry their team (Ole Miss?) didn’t make it to Monday night and that they would never make it that far again. He also said a few disparaging things about Ole Miss fans and the school. It also seems like alcohol was involved in the late night tweeting. (I know, it is now X). It was bad enough that my son, who is on Ben and Chuck’s page, asked me after church “What in the world was Neal thinking?”
He issued an apology this morning and then additional comments about his apology a few hours later. Some are defending him, some are willing to forgive and forget and others are demanding he either step down or be fired immediately.
The irony hit me with a lot of those demanding that he be fired for his derisive comments about Ole Miss fans is they are some of the very same people who took over 247 last spring and verbally abused many of the old posters and blasted David and those who were part of the “Beacon gang” as they took a forum that was largely decent and made it a place were it is okay to throw trash and vulgarity at anyone who doesn’t see things the way you do.
I started to point out the irony on Rebel Grove, but then deleted it before I posted. At this point in time, I didn’t want to deal with all of the vitriol that I’m sure would have come my way if I had tried to make the point. It’s just not worth the effort of getting into a mud slinging contest with a punch of pigs.-

January 18, 2026 at 7:15 pm #2658January 18, 2026 at 7:40 pm #2665::People over there are reacting like Neal burned down the Lyceum. He made a comment in the heat of a moment that he admits he should not have made and wishes he could have back (all stated in his apology). Some posters are acting like the bloodthirsty crowds in the Roman Coliseum or the judges at the Salem witchcraft trials. Bottom line: Neal should not have made the comment, and posters should put down the torches and pitchforks.
January 18, 2026 at 7:48 pm #2666::Amazing, drunk or not, that someone who makes their living off Ole Miss and Ole Miss fans would make a comment like that and alienate half of his customer base. Those customers including business owners are also the same people who support and sponsor his other business of doing various podcast which are available on several online platforms.
January 18, 2026 at 8:38 pm #2669::The comments Neal made are how he truly feels about US, Ole Miss fans and Ole Miss. He is sorry he said it, but he is not sorry that he thinks that way about us. How any true Ole Miss can still support him is beyond me. If you support him, you may as well support Kiffin because they have both used us and they both think we are below them.

It still amazes me that people can get that ugly but I guess the internet can hide many an “ill”. After what he intimated about David, Neal deserves to find out what it feels like. As my grandmother used to say, turn about’s fair play.
