Jackson Suber, the promising young talent and former Ole Miss standout, is set to compete in the 126th U.S. Open this week at the iconic Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. The 26-year-old Tampa native has enjoyed a breakout 2026 PGA Tour season, earning his spot in the field this week.

Suber posted a solo fourth-place finish at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in May. He followed that up with another strong showing at the RBC Canadian Open last weekend, where he held the 54-hole lead before finishing just short of his first PGA Tour victory.

These impressive results, combined with other solid finishes, secured his invitation to golf’s toughest test.

Thursday Tee Time

Suber will tee off in the first round today bright and early alongside amateur Ethan Fang and Jayden Schaper. Their group starts at 5:45 central time at Shinnecock Hills, a classic links-style course known for its firm, fast conditions, extra thick rough, and demanding setup that often frustrates the best golfers in the world. This marks Suber’s second U.S. Open appearance. In 2024, he finished 73rd after a tough week. He will look to improve on that at Shinecock. During his time at Ole Miss, Suber was a stud, securing five victories for the Rebels and posting one of the lowest stroke averages in school history as a senior. He turned professional in 2022 and has steadily improved.

Can This Be His Breakthrough Week?

Shinnecock Hills has a reputation for rewarding ball-strikers who can manage their game under pressure. With the U.S. Open’s signature setup—narrow fairways, thick rough, and fast greens—Suber will need to have his A game to contend. The former Rebel will break through sooner rather than later. Could it be this week?
