Deuce Alexander is now the main guy inside the Ole Miss wide receiver room, and he’s earned every opportunity to be the star man in that department.
The Douglasville, Georgia native has become a fan favorite amongst Ole Miss fans, his big play and big catch moments excited Rebel fans last season, and now he has his sights on even greater opportunities.
Throughout the offseason, Alexander was honored to be gifted the number one jersey on the offensive side of the ball previously worn by Ole Miss greats such as De’Zhuan Stribling, Jonathan Mingo, A.J. Brown, and Laquan Tredwell.
The number emphasizes a mark of importance, talent, and readiness, and for Alexander, it’s a chance to seize a opportunity of a lifetime.
“It was a big deal for me getting the number, just because of the history of receivers that’s came through here, and left there mark, I wanted to be one of the guys to carry the torch.”
In two seasons at Wake Forest, Alexander showcased great potential of a great player, but never truly found the marks of putting it together consistently, amidst a lack of opportunities.
In two seasons with the Demon Deacons Alexander hauled in 430 receiving yards, three touchdown’s, on 38 catches. In a offense stacked with talent in 2025, Alexander still put up big numbers, racking up 684 yards in the air, and two touchdown’s.
The opportunity to come back to Oxford was one of a process for Alexander, not really considering the NFL Draft, but having to trust, and learn a new staff before ultimately deciding to return to the program.
“It wasn’t immediate, with the coaching staff leaving, and a new one coming in, I had to learn and gain a trust of those guys, it wasn’t automatic, I did have thoughts about leaving, but at the end of the day I love Oxford.”
Alexander is the key figure within the receiver room that returns from last season, with all other options moving on to the NFL or transferring to other programs.
Taking over the new lead role comes with lofty expectations, but those are parts of the game that Alexander is ready to embrace, shifting comfort into his group room, and within the offense.
“Stepping into that leader role is a big thing for me, I’m not really a vocal leader, but being a vet in the room, one of the only returning guys, I have to be a vocal leader.”
