Edwin Joseph undergoes ankle surgery ahead of Missouri

Ole Miss defensive back Edwin Joseph underwent ankle surgery following an injury against Vanderbilt, leaving his return timetable uncertain as the Rebels prepare for Missouri.

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss will be without starting safety Edwin Joseph against Missouri after the Florida State transfer underwent ankle surgery following Saturday’s win over Vanderbilt.

Head coach Pete Golding confirmed Wednesday that Joseph underwent a tightrope procedure after initially being diagnosed with an ankle sprain.

The senior has recorded 18 tackles, including 11 solo stops, and one pass breakup through five games, providing valuable experience in the Rebels’ secondary.

The timing isn’t ideal for Ole Miss. Missouri brings a challenging offense to Oxford, and Joseph’s absence puts additional pressure on a defense that has struggled with missed tackles and explosive plays.

Golding will now need another defensive back to step forward while keeping the secondary organized against the Tigers.

Joseph’s recovery timetable remains uncertain, and Ole Miss has not announced whether the injury will end his season.
