Davis expecting blitzing Vandy attack

Ole Miss left tackle Terez Davis describes a week of grinding for the Ole Miss Rebels after a loss to Florida. The 9th-ranked Rebels hope to bounce back Saturday in Nashville versus Vanderbilt. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and the contest will be televised on ESPN.

“It was tough,” began Davis at Tuesday press op in the Manning Center. “It was a hard two practices. We…really were just getting back to the basics, footwork, mental basics, stuff like that. It was definitely a good week for us just to get back on track and finish out the week.”

Moving into this week’s showdown with a good Vanderbilt team, what is its mindset?

“I would say we’re hungry. All of us as a team, we felt how we felt in the locker room after Florida. We don’t want to feel it again. We just want to go out this week and just dominate. That’s the plan,” Davis continued.

As for the Vanderbilt defensive front?

“They’re physical. On third down they run a lot of blitzes. They like to bring seven, eight on third down to confuse you. They run a lot of twists and stuff like that. We’ve just got to be prepared.”
