Football runs through the veins of former Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral. The ex-Rebel quarterback will continue his professional trek as he starts for the Birmingham Stallions on Friday in their season opener versus the Louisville Kings.
Birmingham head coach A.J. McCarron named Corral as the stallions starter earlier this week.
“From an experience standpoint, the biggest thing with Matt is taking care of the football. Put our team in a position to win the game. It’s very critical in these first few games. If you can keep yourself out of bad situations, you can find success. Matt has the most experience in this room, he’s been great to have, and that’s who we’re going to roll with,” said McCarron.
Corral played in 37 games during an Ole Miss career that spanned from 2018 to 2021. In that time, he threw for 8,281 yards and 57 touchdowns.
He was selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He has also spent time with the NFL’s New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings.
Friday night’s game will be played in Louisville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT. The game will be televised by Fox.
