Column | What ya doing Tuesday night?

Ole Miss will definitely be one of the 11 SEC teams projected by ESPN to compete in this year’s NCAA Tournament. That says a lot about the job head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has done with the program, especially considering the state it was in when she arrived here.

Ole Miss is now a national women’s basketball power.

It is time we act like it.

I digress for a moment.

But will Ole Miss be a host team for first and second round action? That’s an issue that is certainly worth addressing.

The Rebels were whipped on Sunday at Kentucky by a really good Wildcats squad. It was the first in a stretch of games that will go a long way in deciding Ole Miss’ near future.

Tuesday night is a date in the Sandy and John Black Pavilion with the Lady Vols of Tennessee. It is now simply a must-win game. That’s because after that are back-to-back games with LSU (home) and South Carolina (away). The Rebels close the regular season with games versus Florida (away) and Texas A&M (home).

One can look at the schedule as opportunity, and it is.

But the rest of the season starts Tuesday night versus the Lady Vols.

It goes without saying, that the Rebels need you there. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

That’s great. But don’t discount yourselves by watching it on TV.

Be there. Come experience the Pavilion and the Rebels.

Let the Rebels experience you.

It also goes without saying that Tennessee fans travel well. The Pavilion is the Rebels’ home. It is your home.

Please, by all means, make it look and feel that way Tuesday night.

Come watch, whom I believe is one of the best players in America, Cotie McMahon, play ball.

Come watch Coach Yo’ and Coach Q’ coach ball.

Come watch the Rebels win.

And be a part of it all.
