COLUMN | Welcome to our site. Please join us.

David Johnson, left, and former Rebel Mike Fitzsimmons record the red and Blues Brothers podcast frm the Starbucks Studio in Oxford.

And thank you all for coming. Our hope is that we has assembled a team that will provide you with the best coverage possible of Ole Miss sports, recruiting, NIL and the transfer portal.

It is an epic adventure to start a new site. None of us have slept much since the Rebels defeated Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday night.

Wow, it’s a great time to be a Rebel.

I’ve been on this Ole Miss beat since I was in my late 30s. I’m in my mid 50s now. This is the greatest time I can remember.

It’s a pretty good time to launch OleMiss365.com, too. The energy has been high all around Oxford and the state of Mississippi.

WE NEED YOU

In order for our site to be a success, we need you. We need you to click the subscribe button and join our family. It will be a family, as it has been my experience our readers range from grade school to 99. There will be no pornography, threats or “F” words here on our message board.

You have my word on that.

Right now, we’re running a deal for the next month. You can get your first month free and a year to OleMiss365.com for just $49.99. I’ve done the math. It equates to $4.16 per month or about the same money as one breakfast sandwich.

But we will give you much more than that.

I promise.

LOOKING BACK AND AHEAD

I had an interesting 2025. That is to say the least.

First, there was foot surgery.

Then there was open-heart surgery.

Then there was a stomach cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery to remove two tumors and one lymph node.

Next, there was chemotherapy (it sucked).

In the midst of all of that, and exactly three hours after I was discharged from the hospital after a successful heart surgery, 247Sports informed me they planned to cut ties after a decade and a half. They were putting the old horse out to pasture.

I immediately started working on OleMiss365.com.

Then came the great news we had hoped…prayed for. In early December my oncologist Dr. Allen declared me cancer free. My cardiologist says I have another good 25-30 years ahead of me. I quit eating red meat and have lost close to 40 pounds.

So, this is a culmination of some seven months of work. The characters came and went in our plans, but I believe this final lineup is the one God intended.

I am so proud of all of them for how hard they have worked to make this dream a reality. They all rolled their sleeves up and labored furiously.

I could cry.

As for my former employer, I had a great time there. There were some good periods, especially when Shannon Terry owned the company and before the corporate world took over. I wish them nothing but the best. I think they have more changes coming soon.

I thought y’all would be curious, and I’ve said all I’m going to say on the matter.

We are here for you. Our goal is for our reporting and message board to be second to none.

Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding

FOR PETE’S SAKE

I have known Pete Golding for almost 30 years. My wife teaches at the school where Pete’s kids attend. My little girl Tori Kate is classmates with his son Bentley. She was thrilled to see him on TV Thursday night, leading the Rebels out of the tunnel with Pete.

I covered Pete all four years he was a starter at Delta State. It is both of our alma maters. He will do well here. He’s currently 2-0 in his career with victories over 10+win Tulane and Georgia teams.

I think it is the hottest start ever for an Ole Miss head coach.

And it ain’t over yet.

IN SUMMATION

Thank you again for being here at OleMiss365.com. Let us know how we’re doing. This is ultimately your site.

We are Ole Miss fans just like you.

We’re honest enough to admit it, though.

Hotty Toddy!
