Chambliss isn’t satisfied — Ole Miss still has another level to reach

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss had plenty to be happy about Saturday against Vanderbilt.

Four total touchdowns, a commanding first-half performance and an offense that seemed to have an answer for everything Vanderbilt threw its way.

But Chambliss wasn’t completely satisfied.

The Rebels built a 42-3 halftime lead and piled up 409 yards of offense before the break. However, things slowed down considerably in the second half.

Chambliss acknowledged that the offense got “sluggish and kind of in a lull a little bit.”

And that’s something he doesn’t want to see moving forward.

Chambliss Wants Four Complete Quarters

Despite finishing with 213 passing yards, three touchdown passes and another score on the ground, Chambliss believes Ole Miss left plenty on the field.

He called the second-half slowdown “not the standard” and stressed that the Rebels have to find a way to maintain their execution throughout an entire game.

The first half showed what this offense is capable of doing when everything clicks. The second half showed there’s still work ahead.

Ole Miss Still Has Room to Grow

One of Chambliss’ strongest comments came when he was asked whether the Rebels were getting closer to playing a complete 60-minute game.

His response?

They’re still “far from that.”

That’s an interesting assessment considering how easily Ole Miss moved the football early against Vanderbilt.

But it also says plenty about the expectations Chambliss has for himself and his teammates.

Ole Miss showed its offensive potential Saturday. Now the challenge is finding a way to sustain that level of play for four quarters.

For Chambliss, winning isn’t the only standard.

It’s about how the Rebels finish.
