Butler wants D’ to start, finish strong

Ole Miss linebacker Tah’j Butler didn’t hesitate Tuesday when as how the bye week practice went after the Rebel defense surrendered 52 points in a humiliating loss at Florida two Saturdays ago.

“I’d say coach PG (Pete Golding) came in…It was really just us being more physical at the point of attack, finishing on our plays, making tackles, That’s really a want-to thing, just making tackles.”?

Golding put an emphasis on studying the Florida film over the off-week in an effort to help the Rebels correct their defensive issues.

“Games like that, it’s hard to watch, especially when we get blown out like that, especially when it’s on defense…Ever how hard it was, we had to go in there and watch that and get over it.”

With most of the bread for Vanderbilt in the oven, what are the expectations this Saturday when the Rebels face Vanderbilt in Nashville?

“We’re trying to start strong and finish strong,” said Butler. “That has been our problem for this whole year. We always start off good in the first half but come out…we’re not coming out swinging.”

Ole Miss and Vanderbilt kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. The game will be televised by ESPN.
