On the Offer: ’27 defensive lineman Markius “MJ” Woods

The Rebels understand the vital importance of reinforcing their defensive trenches. Ole Miss ventured north to extend an offer to Markius Woods, the promising 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive lineman. Although he has flown under the radar until now, Woods recently reclassified to the class of 2027 and will now be at The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. The Rebels are eager to position themselves prominently in his rising recruitment.

Last season, Woods concluded his time at Whitney Young Magnet with impressive stats: 56 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss (TFLs), 7.5 sacks, four forced fumbles (FF), and he even contributed two touchdowns, earning him Team All-City honors.

Ole Miss 365 spoke with Woods after he received his new offer from the Rebels. He expressed what it means to him and his family:

“For me, Ole Miss is a big-time offer for me and my family. Just talking to Coach Joyner and him breaking down what he coaches off of, which is “Principal & Purpose,” really got me even more activated. And for them to send 8 players to the draft in 4 years! That’s really great to hear.”

When it comes to uncovering hidden talent, Randall Joyner has mastered the art of recruitment. The Rebels are already establishing a strong connection with this rising star on the defensive line. Stay tuned for more updates with Woods and his recruitment journey right here at Ole Miss 365.
