The Ole Miss women are headed north. The Rebels earned a No. 5 seed Sunday night when the NCAA Women’s College basketball tournament field was announced. Ole Miss (23-11) will face the 12th-seed Gonzaga Lady Bulldogs in Minneapolis, Minn., on Friday.
The other side of the Minneapolis Regional feature No. 4 seed Minnesota (22-8) versus No. 13 Green Bay (25-8) in another Friday clash.
Tip-off times and TV assignments have not yet been announced.
Ole Miss was in contention to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament until a late-season collapse had them losing six of its last eight regular-season games. The rebels rebounded by beating Auburn and Vanderbilt at the SEC Tournament before being eliminated by Texas.
